‘Seeing differences’ is an awareness campaign to promote the timely diagnosis of acromegaly. Acromegaly is a rare condition where the body produces too much growth hormone. It is usually caused by a benign tumour  growing in the pituitary gland and affects around 60 in every million people.

More about the campaign

This video tells Jessica’s story, an acromegaly patient who describes her journey towards diagnosis and treatment. Being a GP, Jessica noticed various symptoms such as carpal tunnel syndrome, increased hand size and severe headaches which became increasingly worse over 3 years before a diagnosis of acromegaly was made. She describes her treatment journey and how acromegaly has impacted her daily life. For more detail on Jessica’s journey, visit the ‘Patient Stories’ tab.

Many symptoms affect both genders, however some may present more infrequently than others, so may not impact your diagnosis.
